He bought the Super Metroid pack in set along with Mario All-Stars, had a really great time with it, along with Mario 2 and 3 which I preferred over Mario World which my mothers ex liked. He was the IT tech at the college my Mum worked at, so I was also very lucky to have a W95 computer in '96 and got to play Sonic CD which was mind blowing. I wasn't even aware of the system up until about 96/97 when my mothers jeb-end ex boyfriend had one in the spare room set up with a glorious big Sony Trinitron. The SNES always felt like it was a late bloomer here in the UK, it wasn't really until 93/94 that the console became very popular. It's weird that I found that effect so amazing back then, but it made me mouth agape for a while, lol. I remember just being blown away the first time I saw Bombos in Link to the Past at another friend's. I loved the other two "arcade" Turtles game on NES and had to have them after playing through the first one at an arcade (my dad was pissed that I spent like 20 dollars of his quarters lol). The only game I haven't played that I kinda want to is Turtles in Time. I never knew what I was doing, but I thought it was so cool at the time. Edit: I guess I'd like to revisit the old DBZ games I played at some other friend's when I lived in Okinawa in the early 90s. I used to really want one, but I can't think of any game that I'd really want to play that aren't on Virtual Console (Super Castlevania IV) or rereleased (like Chrono Trigger, Link to the Past and Final Fantasy 6). We switched off playing Super Metroid all at his house. I used to borrow my friend's all the time to play Donkey Kong Country and Killer Instinct though. I've never owned a Super Nintendo either. What are your favorite SNES memories? What games stands out to you? Do you still play SNES games? If so, which ones? Nintendo might someday release a SNES Classic Edition, but for me this is a system that I'm okay with owning and collecting for posterity. Yoshi's Island and Killer Instinct are on their way. So far I have Super Metroid, F-Zero, and Tecmo Bowl 3. I have acquired a SNES from a fellow GAFfer, and have started the slow process of building a decent library at last. Some of the games that stand out in my memory are Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, X-Men, The TMNT game, Earthworm Jim, Aladdin, Donkey Kong Country, The Lion King, Sunset Riders, NBA Jam, Killer Instinct, Final Fight, Double Dragon, Castlevania, Contra, And there is plenty more, and I have probably forgot a lot of those games.Īnyway, the NES Classic Edition has reignited my love for the games I grew up with. Custom arcades and playing at friend's was how I got to experience most of the games in my childhood. In the country I grew up in, there were arcade cabinets that were not really legit arcades, and were simply running a SNES under the hood. I still played plenty of NES games, but nowhere near the amount of time, or the variety I played on the Super Nintendo.įurthermore, I never actually owned the system.
That and those friends of mine that were lucky enough to have a gaming system owned the SNES. Although I was born in the early 80s I was not old enough to appreciate the NES in its heyday. the SNES was the most important gaming system of my childhood. (However, many realtime runners are still more likely to use the all-upgrade route.) For even more X2 action, there's another run which doesn't obtain any upgrades and also fights the optional X-Hunters.The Super Nintendo a.k.a. This route used to be the fastest way to complete X2, though it has since been beaten by runs that only collect the X-Buster upgrade. See the submission comments for more information, along with video links at NicoVideo which provide interesting comparisons between this run and the previous one.
This movie is about a 20-second improvement to the previous run in this category by FractalFusion and Graveworm. This makes the ending bosses die almost immediately. In this movie, hidaigai obtains all of X's upgrades, including the Shoryuken. These include a grappling hook, a fast mid-air dash, and a weapon that can transform enemies into platforms. Mega Man X2 makes a particularly interesting run as there are many weapons that can be used to increase mobility. This movie has been obsoleted!
